The region of France known as Normandy is renowned for its beautiful green landscapes and its beaches alike. Traditional ingredients from this beloved region include pork, apples, cider, seafood, luscious butter and cream, and its justly celebrated Camembert cheese. And we couldn't forget the classic spirit of the region, Calvados, an aged brandy made from Normandy's famous local apples. In this hands-on class we'll use these incredible local flavors to create the classic dishes of the region. On our menu is
Moules Marinees a la Dieppoise
, mussels cooked in the style of one of Normandy's more picturesque coastal towns. We'll also prepare Chicken Braised with Cider and Mushrooms, delicate Poached Salmon with Tarragon Sauce, Sauteéd Pork with Bacon and Apples, and a classic Norman Cream Tart for Dessert.
Finally, we'll gather around the table to sample the local Calvados and Cider, in addition to a variety of outstanding wines from the surrounding regions of Alsace, Loire, and Burgundy.
