Lorena Ascencios, Astor Wines & Spirits Wine Buyer, has invited 13 of the foremost artisanal Italian winemakers to the Astor Winemakers Invitational at Astor Center. This event will feature a Grand Tasting, where guests can enjoy current wine releases and older, more exclusive vintages direct from winemakers’ cellars. Participants can also choose to attend one of a series of Private Winemaker Seminars. The Winemakers Invitational culminates in a sumptuous four-course dinner prepared by celebrated chef Andrew Carmellini of Locanda Verde, Lafayette, and Bar Primi. In addition to showcasing Chef Carmellini’s extraordinary gift with Italian cuisine, the dinner will showcase some rare Italian wines. Grand Tasting

The Grand Tasting will feature pedigreed selections from the Kermit Lynch Italian portfolio, as well as wines from Fratelli Barale, Oddero, Mastrojanni, and numerous others. These wines will be poured by the winemakers and importers themselves.

Astor Winemakers Invitational Dinner

Be one of 100 people to enjoy a four-course meal prepared by renowned chef Andrew Carmellini, paired with a variety of Italian wines from Astor Wines & Spirits. The meal will also feature special back vintage selections from the cellars of our visiting winemakers, who will be seated with our guests, for a truly interactive experience.

Adventures Along the Italian Wine Route

Join us for a look at wine icon Kermit Lynch’s Italian legacy at this seminar hosted by Anthony Lynch, Kermit’s eloquent and equally passionate son. Anthony will treat attendees to the Lynch interpretation of Italian wine: Impeccably made, artisanally produced and grower-focused wines that are dedicated to the agricultural craft of winemaking.

Food and Rare Old Wines: A Pairing

You know Levi Dalton best as the venerable host of the popular podcast 'I’ll Drink to That,' (http://illdrinktothatpod.com/) where he 'interviews incredibly famous and knowledgeable wine personalities in his tiny living room.' In this specialized seminar, with room for 22 guests only, Dalton will open rare, older vintages from prestigious growers, acquired recently from a cellar purchase by our wine buyer to showcase special finds for this very event.

The Wines of Marchesi Antinori

Alessia, Albiera, and Allegra Antinori, daughters of wine magnate Piero Antinori, are currently in charge of the 700-year-old winery known for producing some of the most famous wines in the world: Solaia,Guado Al Tasso, and Tignanello. For this exciting seminar, Allegra Antinori will join us, bringing along a few of the current releases of these prized Super Tuscans.

Paolo Bea, Il Censo, and Neal Rosenthal

Montefalco producer Paolo Bea, with winemaking now under the helm of son Giampiero, has collaborated with famed wine importer Neal Rosenthal and Sicilian winemaker Gaetano Gargano; Il Censo is the impressive result. This is the first time that Neal, Giampiero, and Gaetano will be together in New York City to discuss these wines. They’ll be pouring wines from both Il Censo and Paolo Bea.
