Margaret Happel Perry

Margaret Happel Perry is president of Nutmeg Ventures, a resource consulting company. She is an educational consultant and a guest lecturer at a number of culinary colleges throughout the tri-state area.

Until her retirement she was clinical assistant professor and a member of the adjunct graduate faculty in the Nutrition, Food Studies and Public Health Department from 1980 to 2004. Margaret Happel Perry has been food and nutrition editor of a number of women’s magazines including, most recently, a fourteen-year tenure at Redbook Magazine. She has authored eight books on food and nutrition, two of which have been Book-of-the Month Club selection plus an eight-volume series for Butterick Publishing, as well as being consulting editor to the twenty-two volume Time/Life series, Great Meals in Minutes. Her food industry career has included being the first woman vice-president at the Pillsbury Company, and an executive at Nabisco Brands. She has consulted extensively throughout the food and beverage industry.

A Trustee Emeritus of the Culinary Institute of America serving on their Educational Policy Committee, and a member of Les Dames D’Escoffier, a not-for-profit organization of professional women whose mission is dedicated to funding scholarships for young women in the culinary industry, Margaret Happel Perry is proactive in seeking career opportunities for women in the above constituencies.
