Mary John Baumann DWS

An American who studied and worked in Sweden many years, Mary John Baumann is equally at home in the United States as in Europe.

After completing her degree in International Economics at the Swedish Upsala College and the University of Gothenburg, she began her career in the beauty industry with Estee Lauder’s affiliate in Stockholm. She then returned to New York to embark on a career in global marketing with Avon, Estee Lauder and Coty.

Professional interest in fragrance evolved from years of experience in the industry and in recent years merged with a personal interest in wine collecting and travel to the vineyards of the world. Mary John was recently awarded the Diploma certificate from the UK based Wine and Spirits Education Trust. She is currently studying for qualification as a Master of Wine.

Mary John employs her fragrance world knowledge to educate consumers on the role of sense of smell in wine appreciation. Her goal is to help demystify wine and help consumers to trust their noses and explore all that wine has to offer.
