What’s a syrup? How about an infusion? What’s an instant infusion? How do you decide to make one or the other to achieve optimal cocktail deliciousness? Any bartender worth his or her salt knows that a good cocktail comes from good ingredients - and that means, invariably, making your own mixers.
This class is for enthusiasts who have basic cocktails on lockdown but haven’t yet made syrups and infusions at home. We'll start by discussing methods of flavor extraction and the various considerations to take into account when designing cocktails with homemade ingredients. We will cover what tools and raw materials to use, as well as best practices for home production. We will taste finished cocktails that feature flavored syrups and infusions, and make our own cocktails with a range of spirits, cordials, fruit, herbs , syrups and infusions in an experimental session at the end of the class.
