2x, 5x, 10x distilled - does it really make a difference? Filtered through charcoal, diamonds, honey comb - why do we care? Distilled from rye, wheat, potatoes, grapes - how does the base material affect the taste of the finished spirit?
The primitive production and consumption of vodka began roughly in the 13th and 14th century. Back then it was consumed and produced by the locals in Eastern Europe as a way to battle the cold and to help folks forget about life’s hardships - today over 53 million cases are sold a year!
Spirit expert Elayne Duke takes us back in time to share vodka’s fun and factual history and its influence on the spirit world today. In this hands-on workshop we’ll not only taste vodka made from a variety of base spirits to find out what makes each truly unique, we’ll also explore the various production processes, learn what, if anything, separates a $10 bottle from one with a $70 price tag, and even mix up a few classic cocktails along the way!
